The stakeholders’ platform on cultural industries presented the final draft recommendations to the EC and participants during the plenary session of the platform on the 10th of June. This final paper will be submitted to DG Culture to feed into the Green Paper and new financial programme processes. DG Culture is also organising a cultural Forum in September 2009 in which IMPALA is invited to participate. The Forum is expected to gather 600 participants to review progress in the implementation of the European Agenda for Culture, in particular the need for a specific EU policy on cultural industries.
Helen Smith, IMPALA Executive Chair, said “We see these as crucial because the EC and member states need to start putting concrete measures in place to deliver innovation and promote diversity. They know that indies and SMEs hold the key to Europe’s innovation and creativity. We’ve come a long way; when Impala was set up no one was talking about culture or diversity.”
