Mike Batt – Chairman, Dramatico “I’ve always been
happy that my music is released on an independent label, - and to have
IMPALA recognise our work is truly thrilling. I’d also like to say
that the small team at Dramatico have been brilliant in helping me achieve
this unexpected but very much appreciated international success”.
Luke Concannon, Nizlopi "It's great to have won this award from
Impala. The right to play, sing and say what we want, and to put our music
out ourselves is very important to us. May many more successes come from
this independent scene!"
Emil Joergensen, Chairman, DUP, Danish Independent Record Labels: “Achieving
an Impala award can be the first step towards increased interest from
colleagues in the music business, hopefully inspiring new collaboration
across the European borders. It’s great that local artists from
a small country like Denmark can gain more publicity through registering
for an Impala award.”
About the IMPALA Awards
The IMPALA Sales Awards promote diversity and creativity. They are the
first sales awards to recognise that success on a pan-European basis needs
to be acknowledged on different levels starting well before the 1 million
mark. For many independent music companies selling 30 000 is a significant
success. This deserves recognition.
Award levels are based on shipments anywhere across Europe - Silver 30K,
Gold 100K, Diamond 250K, Platinum 500K, Double Platinum 1 million, Multi
Platinum 1.5 million plus.
The IMPALA Awards are an extra tool for independent record companies to
market themselves and their artists internationally.
Awards can be registered by labels, distributors, managers etc via IMPALA’s
on-line certification system at www.impalasite.org/fr06-award.html.
IMPALA was established in April 2000 as a non-profit making organisation
with a scientific and artistic purpose to help independent record companies
and music publishers organise themselves. IMPALA has an all-independent
membership and which represents 100% the interests of the independent
music sector. It has over 3,500 music company members. The independents
are world leaders in terms of R&D and discovering new music and artists.
Despite this, they face increasingly complex barriers to trade and severe
market access problems.
