EDI TOOLKIT

IMPALA first launched its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Toolkit as a pilot in September 2025, inviting members to test the tools and share their feedback. The toolkit was then launched more widely in April 2026 to help independent companies and organisations review and improve their EDI practices.

It is free for IMPALA members and was developed with the support of the IMPALA’s EU network grant.

The EDI toolkit is free to use and includes three main parts:

1. EDI Self-Assessment

Assess your practices and get tailored recommendations

A questionnaire adapted to different types and sizes of organisations. Users receive feedback on their EDI practices, along with practical recommendations on areas for improvement.

2. EDI Sector Survey

Mapping a picture of EDI across the independent music sector in Europe

The survey collects information on EDI practices across the European independent music sector. By completing the self-assessment, organisations also contribute to the sector survey, without having to fill in a separate questionnaire.

The results will help IMPALA identify common challenges and priorities. A new sector report is planned for spring 2027.

3. Online Training Platform

Build knowledge and take action

Five free online training modules covering different EDI topics. The courses can be completed at your own pace and provide practical guidance for companies and music professionals.

Take part

We encourage all IMPALA members to use the toolkit and contribute to the sector survey. The more organisations take part, the better picture we can build of EDI across the independent music sector.
