Brussels, 4 September 2026

IMPALA is organising an online session for members to take a closer look at the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) toolkit and how its different tools can be used in practice.

EDI toolkit

Created specifically for the independent music sector, the toolkit helps members assess their EDI practices, identify areas to work on and access relevant training and resources.

  • An EDI assessment & independent music sector survey. The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete and gives you an overview of recommended trainings and case studies based on your results. Responses also help IMPALA build a wider picture of EDI practices and needs across the sector.
  • An online training platform with sector-specific courses such as Why Inclusion Matters in MusicBarriers to Inclusion in Music, and Inclusive Practice & Leadership. Thanks to the association’s EU network grant, access is for all IMPALA members.

Demo session

We will welcome:

  • Andrew Lansley, developer of the EDI assessment tool
  • Vick Bain, developer of the EDI training platform

Andrew and Vick will take members through the tools, how the assessment and results work and how the training resources can be used in practice.

There will also be time for questions and discussion.

We are looking forward to your participation!

Note, this session is part of IMPALA’s EU network programme 🇪🇺 which is co-funded by the European Union.

About IMPALA
IMPALA was established in 2000 and now represents over 6000 independent music companies in Europe. 99% of Europe’s music companies are small, micro and medium businesses and self-releasing artists. Known as the independents, they are world leaders in terms of innovation and discovering new music and artists – they produce more than 80% of all new releases and account for 80% of the sector’s jobs. IMPALA’s mission is to grow the independent music sector sustainably, return more value to artists, promote diversity and entrepreneurship, improve political access, inspire change, and increase access to finance. IMPALA works on a range of key issues for its members and started a new co-funded work programme as an EU cultural network in 2025. IMPALA runs various award schemes and has a programme aimed at businesses who want to develop a strategic relationship with the European independent sector – Friends of IMPALA. This year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary with a series of interviews Faces of the Independent Sector and other features, see more here.
